Finally dear lady's gents and whatever may find it interesting to read about a car restoring attempt.
A couple days ago the injector finally got on the beautifull block. Finishing that the gearbox was next on the to be done list. So 2 days ago it got torn appart and about everything got cleaned while the gears were drowened in some gasoline. I got lucky cuz my father just had to get some for his own car cuz it had some issues. Luckely he didn't need it after all wich left plenty for the drowning proces.
So~
As u can see the parts were painted and ready for assembly
And once again my luckyness was unbreakable. On the shelf there was a can of gearboxoil from year brick... same as the gearbox so perfect. =D
So of I went and stuck a couple of blinks later. The 3 gliders in the gear on the picture down here didn't want to go in. Springy things always keep anoying me cuz they have a habbit a springing out at the last moment. But after trial and error it got together and after that it went pretty smooth.
So after fighting with the first gear shaft it went in ...
... the connecterrods and the reverse gear ....
... the last connecting gears and the reverse lever thing ....
And so it comes to an end with a nice metal color like cap thing with some awsum black bolts to give a perfect finish that nobody will ever see and only I and some few other ppl that have an interest in an old unteristing 4-speed manual ( basically just me ). Well worth the blood, sweat, tears, and many hours of labour.
tatataah~
On with the bell housing.
That neaded some scrubbing wich resulted in ...
Bolted together...
Internal parts also painted.
And that's that.
So tomorrow dad and I can have some quality time fixing this together with the enige.
And in a while we can see if it works as good as it looks. Cuz the gearbox got no new parts. The manual talked about several locking balls and whatever not that could but not should be replaced. But lack of interest and a some rush kept me from some extra search for 'm.
So in the end it's just what it was with a new coat of black and silver.
The test drive will have to prove my work sofar.
But for that to happen there still is a lot of work to be done...
so till next time
